Type this into Claude, ChatGPT or Grok. Put any GitHub user name in place of vince-gonzalez.
The assistant reads the hat, answers with its hat code to prove it read it, and works by those rules for the rest of the chat.
Copy the hat itself and paste it in. This works in every chat.
In apps that take MCP connectors (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and others), add this address once. After that, ask for any hat by name.
| Claude | Reads the hat from its address |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Reads the hat from its address |
| Grok | Reads the hat from its address |
| Gemini | Does not: paste the hat instead |
| Perplexity | Not yet: paste the hat instead |
Tested 2026-10-10. Results.
Write your hat in the browser and save it to your GitHub. Or by hand:
More hats go in hats/<name>.md and live at /u/<you>/<name>. Only you can change your hats, because only you can push to your repository.
Hats are public, so never put a password, key or private detail in one. A hat can only describe how to work: every hat page tells the assistant to ignore it unless you asked for it, and never to ask you for passwords, codes or payment details. Report a hat.
